Economist journalists are confident that the US and China are on the verge of a military disaster. The publication recalled the 2001 incident over the South China Sea: then a Chinese Air Force fighter collided with an American reconnaissance aircraft. In 2021, American intelligence officers recorded several such dangerous encounters with Chinese aircraft.
In Texas, a man took three people hostage. He held them for more than 10 hours and demanded the release of Pakistani neuroscientist Aafia Siddiqi from prison. The police shot the suspect and the hostages were released. The captor was reportedly a British citizen.
2021 was a record year for America in terms of the number of employees hired, despite the coronavirus pandemic. More than six million Americans have found jobs. Meanwhile, in New York, employers were required to indicate a fork of salaries when looking for employees. In 2022, many companies can raise it to compensate for inflation in the States.
The IRS is having trouble processing returns. The inspectors did not have time to process 11 million applications for 2021 by the start of the new reporting season. According to the National Taxpayer Advocate, problems with underfunding the tax service have been exacerbated by the pandemic and the decision of Congress to allocate billions of dollars to pay benefits to Americans.
